Urgent Care
Prompt, expert pet care when you need it most
Our pets can’t tell us when something is wrong. Often, we only know they are sick or injured when they suddenly are just “not acting right.”
In these times of need, Autumn Trails Veterinary Center wants to be there for you and your beloved family member with a new approach to veterinary medicine — urgent care. Urgent care for pets is much like urgent care for humans — it offers immediate access to a healthcare provider without the long waits and extra cost of going to an emergency hospital.
Here’s how our urgent care works:
- You can bring in your pet between the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week, and one of our veterinarians will be available to see your pet.
- You may walk-in or call ahead at 434.971.9800 and make an appointment to be seen at a specific time. (Calling ahead can sometimes result in a shorter wait time.)
- You do not need to be a regular client of Autumn Trails. We will forward your records to your regular family veterinarian for continuity of care.
- We charge no extra emergency fees for urgent care.
Autumn Trails has the experience and technology to handle all types of urgent healthcare needs for dogs, cats and small pocket pets. In fact, our practice was founded by a veterinarian and practice manager with years of combined experience working in emergency veterinary hospitals.
Just as important, we will treat your pet with compassionate care, as if it was one of our own.

- Frequent urination or straining to urinate
- Difficulty breathing
- Seizures
- Wounds/lacerations
